Hercules as a schlocky sci-fi flick? Ehhhhhh... sure, why not?
Starring Lou Ferrigno (1970s Hulk and noted Schwarzenegger rival), this epic from Cannon Films goes down a trippy, futuristic rabbit hole and offers up a version of Greek Mythology where the gods live on the moon, the Hydra is a mechanical monster that shoots lasers from its mouth, and Hercules is constantly hurling stuff into space. Of course, it all makes sense when you discover that this masterpiece is directed by Luigi Cozzi - the self-same man behind STARCRASH, another Bad Movie Night favourite.
NOTE: For any Bad Movie Night regulars, you may recall that we screened HERCULES IN NEW YORK starring Arnold Schwarzenegger almost a year ago. Yet these two films could scarcely be more different from each other - with the exception that they both feature some of the finest bear fights ever committed to celluloid.
