Look, we all make poor decisions when we're young, but seldom are they as hilariously bad as HERCULES IN NEW YORK - the movie that has the honour of being both Arnold Schwarzenegger's first film and his first cinematic regret.

The story is what you'd guess: the Greek demigod Hercules (played by the exceedingly Austrian Ahh-nold) comes to visit the Big Apple in the 1960s and, in the process, gets himself into a whole slew fish-out-of-water hijinks. The plot is so thin it's practically non-existent, and the whole thing is really just an excuse to have Schwarzenegger wander around shirtless and flex his muscles every so often. The awesome awfulness emerges from the first time Arnold mangles the pronunciation of "Hercules" - which is like, 10 seconds into the film - and just keeps on giving as Hercules wrestles a man in a bear costume and chases down some New York mobsters in a chariot.

With a debut like this, it's pretty much a miracle that Schwarzenegger kept getting roles after HERCULES IN NEW YORK was released.
